the C.A.L.M of the evening [any] « Thread Started on Aug 11, 2008, 5:52pm »
the C.A.L.M of the evening anyone is welcome
All the students had settled them selves down, and the night was drawing in. Harry had taken a seat on the main Gryffindor Common Room sofa, a few students where around him quite comfortably talking quietly with friends, and others had gone to settle them selves in their beds to rest for the night, yet Harry just sat there watching the fire calmly, thinking about the day he just had, the classes he had taken, and the pretty much everyday sneers, remarks and dislike features from the Slytherins, yet he had gotten used to it after being here for 6 years.
He had no idea where the rest of his friends where, Hermione and Ron, he hadn't seen them all day today, and he was basically in everyone of their classes. Giving a sigh, Harry felt his glasses slip before nudging them back up with a finger, the small piece of bandage still wrapped around the center, some he applied himself earlier, where he had broken them. AGAIN. He had a habit of doing that, and he always forgot the spell in which Hermione casted to fix them, he would try and remember to write it down next time.
His pure green eyes slowly scanned the room of the happy Gryffindor members, a soft smile on his face, only to see a few other students give one in return, a few girls nearly giggled, the boys nodded in greeting returned. Harry always enjoyed returning to the Common Room, it was the most peaceful part of the morning and evenings, where there was no one who would come up with smart remarks to annoy him and his friends, and Harry was quite glad he had gained that freedom for all of his years here at Hogwarts.
Sure, he admitted he didn't like it in some terms and means, for most, a vast of the students had no feelings for others, but he wasn't one to judge or care much for how others reaction, rather he took things in his own hands. He was the 'infamous' Harry Potter, and the popularity was probably the most amazing thing that had ever happened to him. Sure as well most HATED his guts, but he was glad that he actually had FRIENDS, those who are there for him as well as him being there for them.
That's what Harry believed life to be like, and how it should be, and here he was, enjoying a peaceful evening in the Common Room... Nothing could disrupt a moment like this... Except of course.... From an announcement...

Meleny was lying on her bed asleep waiting for the sun to go down. As a half vampire she couldn't go out into the sunlight during the day and she missed being able to enjoy the sunlight without burning to death. It made one wonder how she endured outside classes during the day. She just dealt with the awful burning sensation during class and usually ended up going to the hospital wing after class.
As she slept she was once again unconsciously reliving her mother's gruesome death. She hated her father with every fiber of her being and she hated that he'd taken her mother away from her and left her to fend for herself. It wasn't that she was uncapable of taking care of herself. It was quite the opposite. It was just that she missed being treated like a person. Her mother was the only person who did that. Her father and sometimes other vampires treated her like scum. They had this belief that she didn't deserve to have the blood of a vampire in her because she displays human emotions. It was the exact same way purebloods treated muggle-borns and half-bloods.
In her dream she heard her mother scream bloody murder as her father attacked her. Her mother screamed and screamed until she finally died. Meleny's eyes snapped open and tears rolled down her cheeks. She's had the same dream ever since her mother died. She looked around the dormitory then out the window next to her dormitory and noticed it was dark out. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed and left the dormitory and walked downstairs to the common room where she noticed one of her fellow Gryffindors Harry Potter sitting on the couch. She'd heard of him from her father and often heard him talk about him and put him down when coming back from death eater meetings. "Hey."she said smiling weakly at him not noticing that tear tracks clung to her face and that she hadn't applied any eyeshadow or blush to hide her scars. It was a habit she had and she usually forgot to do it when she was in a rush to be somewhere. She didn't think it really mattered right now. She figured that Harry of all people might understand what she'd gone through with her father. He'd lost everything because of Voldemort. She'd only lost a mother but she'd also lost someone who treated her like a human being instead of scum.

He had heard someone approaching until a voice spoke to him. "Hey." He gave off a smile as he turned to his fellow Gryffindor. "Hiya." He studied her expression, her face, she seemed quite sad inside, he could tell, and of course, the tear streaks sort of gave it away. "Are you alright?" his concern for her grew as he patted the seat next to him, offering for her to sit down.
He wondered what to say to try and comfort her, yet something about her told him that she too had something up with her past, something had gone terribly wrong, yet what could they do now to solve it? Nothing really. Especially with Harry, he had lost everything... But he kept strong, he kept going.. Yet he still did think about them, and that how much they cared for him.
He wondered about Meleny, and what she had lost in her life. He knew Meleny slightly, for being a Gryffindor they obviously spent most of the time for the past 6 years in the same classes, in the dorm as well, Harry knew nearly everyones name, except of course for those who didn't like him entirely, no biggie there though. He sat up a little bit before feeling his glasses slide again, getting rather irritated, he took them off.
He was able to see without them, just not really clearly though, he gave them a quick clean making it look as though they were dirty before placing them back on with a smile, wondering if she was okay...

Meleny sat down on the seat Harry offered her and sighed. "Well, where do I start? My mother is dead. She was killed by my own father because she's a human and I guess he thought she wasn't good for him. My father is a vampire on Voldemort's side. I'm a half vampire and I'm always treated like scum. I'm treated the exact same way purebloods treat muggleborns and half-bloods."she said and tried to compose herself. Thinking about her mother or dreaming about the gruesome way in which she died always made her cry. "My mother was the only one who treated me like a person. She's never screamed at me or hurt me like my father does. My father always loved causing me pain. Every time I go to sleep I dream about my mother and I see her murdered before my eyes. I hear her scream bloody murder until it's too late."she stated trailing off a bit as she spoke. Her voice was hesitant because her description of watching her mother die probably would sound similiar to Harry since he'd watched his parents and Cedric Diggory murdered instantly. She always admired how composed he was and strong he kept for others during the bad times whereas she instantly fell apart and crumbled. Maybe she really was a weakling like her father kept saying she was but she always denied it but a part of her believed it was true.

He listened carefully, quite amazed by her words to begin with. "Well, where do I start? My mother is dead. She was killed by my own father because she's a human and I guess he thought she wasn't good for him. My father is a vampire on Voldemort's side. I'm a half vampire and I'm always treated like scum. I'm treated the exact same way purebloods treat muggleborns and half-bloods." As soon as she finished. Harry remained silent, but his feelings had changed dramatically about how she felt too. His worried expression before he lifted his head again as she continued her worry.
"My mother was the only one who treated me like a person. She's never screamed at me or hurt me like my father does. My father always loved causing me pain. Every time I go to sleep I dream about my mother and I see her murdered before my eyes. I hear her scream bloody murder until it's too late." He just didn't know what to say. His eyes lowered as he began to think about how hard her life was. He admitted his life was hard with the thought of what Voldemort did to his parents, yet, his heart gave out to her more.
He remained silent before lifting his head up again, watching her eyes before placing a hand on her shoulder. "Whenever you feel like you need someone," he gave a nod with a smile. "remember that you will always have your friends." His pure feeling of that him being there for her was strong as any other. "You have me." His friendly tone as the Gryffindor lowered his hand, his smile still there as he gave her a friendly hug, that in comfort as well as respect. "I promise." and as of course. Harry Potter was known to be one to never break a promise.
ever.

Meleny breathed in his scent when he hugged her. She's always admired his martyr tendencies. It reminded of her in a way. She always liked how he stayed true to his word and how he was entirely geniune. Almost everything about him reminded her of herself. She never realized how two people of the opposite gender could be so alike. "I'll remember that. I'm glad you're my friend."she said having calmed down. She smiled back at him and returned the hug.
